WATTS Up?
A capital campaign to improve KAFM's signal strength and studios to better serve the Grand Valley!
KAFM's commitment to our community goes back many years.
In just a little over a decade after beginning it’s broadcast operations in 1999, KAFM Community Radio has earned a place in the heart of the community it serves.
Responsible Stewardship and a Celebration of Community
KAFM has grown and prospered beyond the wildest dreams of those early dedicated citizens who had a vision of a real community station for the Grand Valley.
All of these accomplishments have taken place over a relatively short period of time, and in spite of the fact that KAFM only has a 16-watt signal!
When KAFM was granted its license to begin broadcasting in 1999, the FCC only allowed us a 16-watt signal.
Recently, as part of our ongoing pursuit of a stronger presence in our community, The FCC has approved an increase of our signal from 16 to 300 watts.
300 Watts and Beyond
The long line of leadership at KAFM has always believed that, in addition to promoting volunteerism and providing a place for the community to come together on the air and at the station, we must continually strive to nd new and innovative ways to serve our community.
Improved Facilities Will Help Support a Stronger Signal and an Enhanced Mission
Increasing power isn't cheap.
A Modest Proposal
KAFM has a welll-deserved reputation for responsible stewardship and achieving its goals.
